When a CD ROM doesn't recognise or read a CD, it might mean that the CD you put in is not compatible with the CD ROM drive. Always be wary of the CDs you buy. Make sure that they are compatible with your computer's CD ROM drive.
When the CD ROM drive no longer reads a CD, its probably because the CD ROM drive has lost some connection. Try restarting your computer to address this problem. You can also try uninstalling and reinstalling the device's program. If you don't know how to do this, consult your CD ROM manual for the instructions.
- The CD ROM drive just keeps on spinning but not reading the CD.
There are a couple of reasons the CD ROM spins without reading the CD. First, the CD may be damaged, with dusts on the surface, or incompatible with the CD ROM drive. Try removing the CD and reinserting it back, or clean the CD. Second, if there's a loose cable connection between the CD ROM drive and the motherboard. Verify if cables and plugs are properly placed. - Unaccessible CD ROM drive and the light does not turn on.
The cables that attach the CD ROM drive to the motherboard may need some adjustments. If this doesn't work, try locating the CD ROM drive. Try restarting the computer. If this, too, fails, contact your computer technician.
