DO you plan to celebrate the start of 2009 with a big bang or will it be a quiet affair?

It's interesting how some people make such a big deal out of this celebration and for others its a non-event and off to bed early.

My mantra for 2009 is it's all about intention, intention, intention.

What do you want in life?

If you are making 2009 the year where you want to shed kilos or improve your health then what you need to do first is visualise in your mind the outcome, the reality, the vision of what you intend to be.

To lose weight you would want to visualise yourself trim, toned and energised.

Own this image and use this to drive you to succeed.

Next it's about bringing this to fruition.

Here is a list of what you may need to do or intend to do to make it happen.

First, you will need to understand by chanting or dreaming what you want doesn't automatically mean you get this.

Success isn't guaranteed unless you are committed to achieving the outcome.

So how do you get the guaranteed outcome you want? It's easy to lose weight you'll need to eat a healthy diet, eat moderate amounts of food each day, and be as active as you can and above all believe and have the intent that it can happen.

Now we know what is needed to be done, what's next?

Writing a food diary for a few weeks is a great way to get started especially after Christmas so write everything down that you eat and drink.

For most women you should work on around 5300 kilojoules and 30 grams of fat per day. If you have a lot of weight to lose then go to 6000 kilojoules and 40 grams of fat.

For men who don't have much to lose work on 6000 kilojoules and 40 grams of fat or for active men or large men go to 7000 kilojoules and 50 grams of fat per day.

This is just a guide as we are all different, and I would recommend you talk with a health professional first.

By taking responsibility for your health and wellbeing you will be the one that reaps the benefits.

Don't let another year pass you by. Make 2009 your year and remember it is about intention.

What do you intend to look like this year, what clothes do you intend to wear and how healthy do you intend to be for 2009?

Happy New Year everyone!
